Solemnity of the Lord’s Ascension

At Jerusalem, the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord is celebrated exactly 40 days after Easter of Resurrection, following Luke’s account in the Acts of the Apostles saying this:

He presented himself alive to them by many proofs after he had suffered, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God…

When he had said this, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him from their sight. While they were looking intently at the sky as he was going, suddenly two men dressed in white garments stood beside them. They said, “Men of Galilee, why are you standing there looking at the sky? This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will return in the same way as you have seen him going into heaven.”

Two of our sisters from Bethlehem: Sister Clementine and Sister Cleusa participated in the Mass at 4 am, right on the Mount of Ascension, where there is the stone that tradition recognizes as the one where Jesus stood for Last time before ascending into Heaven.

The Mass was concelebrated by the Fathers of the Incarnate Word, and other sisters and lay associates participated.

This is a beautiful ecclesial and charismatic experience in a place where only on this solemnity can the mass be celebrated since this sacred place is owned by our Muslim brothers.
